PNLP1 - CA - 2021Soft Subversions is the debut release by House of Intergenerational, the DJ platform for Toronto-based artist and clinical sonician Andrew Zealley. Published as a 2LP vinyl gatefold edition of 250 numbered copies with a two-sided poster/insert of visuals and notes, Soft Subversions is the sonic culmination of six years of research into risk, art, and sex in the era of AIDS industry: listening to risk and risky artistic and sexual practices as a method of aesthetic self-creation.

Never Been is the first collaborative release by Loradeniz and Interstellar Funk, who produced the EP at a Volkshotel artist residency in Amsterdam, in 2021. The record examines the interplay of synthetic melodies and Loradeniz’s vocals, which are underpinned by meticulously crafted rhythms. Steeped in melancholy, many of the tracks on Never Been evoke the essence of departure, complex emotions and fading memories.

A killer but hard-to-find track, In Love was originally released on the highly respected Smallfish Records as a limited 500 12in: the current asking price on Discogs is around £100.Now, In Love is re-released with some excellent additions as a new 4-track 12in EP 300 limited run.Four tracks that mix Techno/Deep House groove with rock-solid bass, Spaced-out Dub, Detroit and Acid influences, all uniquely Vertical Cat.In Love is a deep spacious roller with a delicious bassline and dubbed-out fx.Snow Creatures is deeper still, more Electro but still solid and spaced-out as f.Moss is a Detroit Techno masterpiece with Drexciya-tinged melodies and acid bass.You Shocker! concentrates the Acid with sweet beats and dubbed daft vocal cuts.Vertical Cat has released music on Vice, Smallfish, Sulphur, Projector and Achingly.

A passion project from two really great friends... the packaging is as much part of the experience as the music and story behind this album. The seamless integration of materials sourced within the setting, finding freedom within constraint, and designed for the masses. Usonian Automatic was recorded in a home built upon Frank Lloyd Wright’s principles, conceived and designed by his former student, James W. Strutt. Life in such a house exacts the instinct to harmonize its wood, brick, and geometry with the emanating electric sound of a speaker. Marrying the guitars to vinyl archived, cut, and laced into the available frequencies expresses our interpretation of the listening experience, revolving around the hearth. These are the Usonian fundamentals we have borrowed and built upon.
