Rome’s own disco wizard L.U.C.A. aka Francesco De Bellis is back for his second LP Terra, hot on the heels of his Venus 12” EP earlier this year. In this far-reaching album, the Edizioni Mondo founder explores the deteriorating relationship between Man and Nature, and the dire consequences. The album is split into two themes - part one is Consacrazione (Consecration) and side two is Coscienza (Conscience) - as L.U.C.A. charts a trip through mankind’s psychic universe, and imagines worlds beyond our physical dimension.
Mr Telephones pumps up the pace drastically from his previous downtempo-oriented "Point Breaks / Beach Breaks" EP. Here closing in on the 150 bpm mark, with the vibey raw pump of "Blue-Tek", a funky oddball-roller hybridizing ghettotech, balearic, detroit and italo house. Flip wax for the soundscapey ambient techno-trip "FV555", twilight-speeding through hazy highways, with the forest on one side, and ocean on the other. Both sides neatly wrapped up with trippy reprise-versions. Pressed at 45 for max flex! Essential.
It’s been a long wait, pressings difficulties have got in the way, but here finally, slightly out of sequence, is the next release on SuperRhythm Trax.Luca Lozano’s returns for his third EP on the label and turns in something truly special. Packed full of bleeps, bass and breaks, with heavy nods here and there to Sheffield, plus the extra treat of ‘Summer Of Love’ with its dubwise swing and bonus DJ Steve remix for the real Break heads.
Klasse Wrecks with their very first CD release offering a special release!! In the early 90s, Joi Lau was working as a comic assistant when he got signed by a record label in Hong Kong. Under the moniker Joey Lau, his debut album went gold and sold over 25000 copies. Fast forward to 2021 and you'd be forgiven for scratching your head at the transformation Joi has undergone. Joi's album served as his only release up until he met Klasse Wrecks' Mr. Ho 30 years later in a nightclub in downtown Hong Kong. At 8 tracks '3 UR MIND' is only a micro-selection of Joi's immense back catalogue of work, a body of songs that is impossible to locate within a normal field of genres and classification. At times tribal and at times progressive, Joi's music is a patchwork of modern and sharp percussion, sinister bass and traditional eastern motifs, resulting in a style that sounds like a representation of life in busy and hectic Hong Kong. Although his pop star days are behind him, Joi has never stopped making music. With close to one hundred tracks waiting to see the light of day, we can only look forward to another exciting chapter to the intriguing story of Joi Lau.
Kerrie made her impressive Cultivated Electronics Ltd debut in July with 'We Continue Part 1' which has grabbed the attention of media and DJs alike, recently featuring in DJ Mag's Staff Picks amongst other accolades. She now returns in September for Part 2. This Irish born, Manchester based DJ and producer has been rising in the ranks since first joining the Eastern Bloc crew and over time has taken her analogue live shows to the likes of Freerotation and The Warehouse Project. 2021 has also seen the launch of her label, Dark Machine Funk Recordings (DMF). Like her own label name suggests on 'We Continue Part 2', Kerrie delivers four more raw electro tracks bringing dark, twisted bass driven machine funk to Cultivated Electronics' vinyl-only offshoot, Cultivated Electronics Ltd.
