Dr.Dre and Jay-Z sampled, legendary cinematic funk combo CALIBRO 35 announces the reissue of their fifth album "S.P.A.C.E." on ltd edition Crystal Orange vinyl and digital deluxe edition with bonus tracks.Record Kicks presents the reissue of CALIBRO 35's fifth acclaimed long-time sold out album "S.P.A.C.E." on March 25thon limited edition Crystal Orange vinyl and digital "deluxe" version with bonus tracks.The publication is part of "The Record Kicks Trilogy" that follows the reissue of the first three albums of the band, released in 2020. This time, Milan label Record Kicks will repress on wax of three different colours and on digital deluxe edition, the fourth, fifth and sixth legendary studio albums of the Italian cinematic-funk cult band. The digital deluxe edition of "S.P.A.C.E." includes 3 bonus tracks: "CLBR 35", originally released as a b-side of "Bandits of Mars" 45 vinyl, and the unreleased songs "Omicron Paradox"and "The Haploids".Recorded to tape on an 8-track tape recorder at the 'analog mecca' Toe Rag Studios in London, the worldwide famous studio where The White Stripes penned "Elephant", "S.P.A.C.E." is the fifth studio album by Calibro 35. Forget about the gripping noir atmospheres of their previous full lengths, with this album the Milan combo escapes from planet earth and lands on their own satellite to write the perfect funk soundtrack of an imaginary sci-fi movie directed by Sergio Leone. They've thrown away the balaclavas and embraced a bunch of synthesizers in their new instalment where Calibro 35 explores fresh new territories.From the storming imaginary main title notes of the title track "S.P.A.C.E." to the percussive effects and creepy organ of "Serenade for a satellite", with incursions into cosmic afrobeat ("Ungwana Bay Launch Complex"), lunar funk ("Bandits On Mars") and trippy atmospheres ("Something Happened on Planet Earth"), in "S.P.A.C.E." Calibro 35 sound as cinematic and groovy as ever. Captured live and direct to tape with no overdubbing or editing facilities by Tommaso Colliva (Muse/Franz Ferdinand), the sound is tough, warm and super tight and confirms the unique musicianship of the band able in few years to gain followers worldwide.Active since 2008, CALIBRO 35 enjoy a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent bands around. Peruvian sax player Nilo Espinosa and his group, also known as the Nil's Jazz Ensemble only ever recorded one album in 1976 and it, remains not only as one of the truly grails for collectors of Latin-American jazz fusion but also as an outstanding piece of music on its own.

Jazzaggression · Gisle Røen Johansen KVELDSRAGG LP snippetsHeaven and earth are in motion with the debut album from composer and saxophonist Gisle Røen Johansen (b. 1968) an active voice on the Norwegian jazz scene since the mid-nineties. Known for his expressive tone in groups like Element and Jazzmob, Kveldsragg is the first release under his own name. The album features top players from the nordic jazz currents including members from Bushman’s Revenge and Element; Even Hermansen on guitars, Rune Nergaard on Electric Bass and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on Acoustic Bass and ECM signed Gard Nilssen on drums. With special guests Bob Hoffnar on pedal steel, wordless vocals by Mona Julsrud and vocals, lyrics by Harald Tusberg Jr.The melodic tour-de-force of Kveldsragg that occupies the whole first side showcases Johansen’s post-bop background, in a multi-layered harmonical approach. While the B-side Morrasol is a new dawn, the album finishes with the haunting and beautiful voice of Harald Tusberg Jr. who’s lyrical tribute to the deciesed fellow musicianJon Klette will leave you mesmerized.

Jazzaggression · Bash Live at Club7 1973 'Cochise'After the dissolution of the Norwegian Psych rock outfit DREAM by the end of the 1960s, Christian Reim embarked on a new musical venture with the group BASH. Following his time with Dream, where he had already begun to experiment with pop and rock, Christian found himself exploring further creative depths with BASH.As The DREAM disbanded, pivotal figures like Hans-Marius Stormoen and Terje Rypdal embarked on separate musical journeys. Collaborations with luminaries like Jan Garbarek and Jon Christensen became defining moments. By 1971, however, The Dream’s curtain had closed. Undeterred, Christian, armed with his modified Hammond B3 organ, continued to play bass using foot-pedals. Amidst these transformations, the unwavering partnership of his longtime collaborator, drummer Tom Karlsen, remained steadfast.BASH’s presence was initially marked by a single release in 1971, with tracks “Quiquenita” and “Kokosnøtter” on the Nor-Disc imprint. While featuring an impressive line-up of jazz musicians, this studio session was a one-time endeavour. BASH continued to make waves, performing as an Organ Trio led by Christian and Tom. Various Oslo-based guitarists, including notable names like Freddy Dahl, Nils Petter Nyren and Freddy Lindquist, joined the lineup throughout 1972 and 1973.However, this live recording encapsulates a pivotal phase in BASH’s evolution. The winter of ’73 marked a significant shift with the addition of Richard Rolf from the illustrious Swedish band November. Richard’s entrance added another layer of prowess and experience to the trio’s sonic landscape.Diving into the performance is akin to reliving the Wednesday concert in April ’73. Every essence of the atmosphere is captured, even down to the engineer adjusting the reel-to-reel machine’s volume knob whenever the band’s intensity peaked. The recording boasts surprising elements, such as moments when Christian halts the performance to reset the rhythm with the drummer. Amidst the live renditions, a standout is Christian’s unique interpretation of Arild Wikstrøm’s “Indianersangen,” serving as a compelling opener. Its gradually unfolding theme resonates deeply and stands as a highlight, adding a significant dimension to the album’s value.This live recording not only captures the essence of BASH’s performance, but it also transports listeners to a specific moment in time at the legendary CLUB 7 in Oslo.
