XK023 - UK - 2021

Adam Pits lands next for a debut on X-Kalay as one of the most talked about new producers circulating the UK underground. Based in Leeds, Pits has already attracted the attention and support of established players such as Subb-ann, Call Super and Ciel and left countless others scrambling to chase down his energetic club centric productions

With his style drawing on the best elements of proggy house, breaks, trance and techno he delivers a solid EP for X-Kalay of driving club rhythms, UK bass and tranced out euphoria; the maturity of his craft seeming to belie this young producer’s relatively modest age

In addition, the mysterious Magicwire artist Bliss Inc. contributes a remix on the flip and reworks Pits’ title track “Piston Pump”into a chugged out trancey peak time banger.

Man Made Hill/ Olaf split 7" by Man Made Hill/OlafPlanet Ontario traveller, Man Made Hill, meets Jeremy Greenspan at the controls for this sonic snack which weds signature sounds from the king of sleaze with a new sheen to his slick. Atomized melodies swirl atop boomy bass drops as the crusty crooner bellows & whispers his unique utterances of unbridled love & lust. A woozy stepper that must be heard to be comprehended.Mysterious newcomer, Olaf, is coming in hot & heady with this emotionally dense banger that forgoes clarity for an unhinged catharsis. Swimming through synthy miasma, Olaf’s impassioned vocals dive deep into raw feelings before coming up for air. A chugging, sluggish house beat pulls us along as this fresh-faced contender flexes what she’s got & leaves us wondering & wanting.
ZORN66 - BE - 2020Arctic Winds by Maggi PayneFully immersive electronic music by US composer Maggi Payne, inspired by the arctic winds.Maggi Payne's sound worlds invite the listeners to enter the sound and be carried with it, experiencing it from the inside out in intimate detail. The sounds are almost tactile and visible. The music is based on location recordings, with each sound carefully selected for its potential—its slow unfolding revealing delicate intricacies—and its inherent spatialization architecting and sculpting the aural space where multiple perspectives and trajectories coexist. With good speakers, some space in your schedule, and a mind-body continuum willing to resonate with Payne’s electroacoustic journey, but then it will take you to places that other music can’t reach. From the sounds of dry ice, space transmissions, BART trains, and poor plumbing she immerses the listener in a world strangely unfamiliar. Maggi Payne is a composer, video artist, recording engineer, photographer, and flutist and is Co-Director of the Center for Contemporary Music and a faculty member at Mills College, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Temple is proud to present a new full-length album from Polish musician and visual artist Wojciech Bakowski.Following up on his more experimental-leaning album Jazz Duo on Dunno Recordings, Voyager is an intimate record in the artist’s signature spoken-word style, loosely touching on stripped-down hip hop, RnB, dub, and pop.All records come with a booklet of the artist’s drawings and song lyrics in Polish and English.
On March 5th, Ongehoord is releasing the concluding album of the Deadline Paranoia trilogy; Deadline Paranoia 3/3. The final set of rereleased psychedelic sounds that complete the oeuvre of the 1980s Amsterdam based band. Jeroen Vermandere, the person behind Ongehoord, discovered the band during his thorough search of Dutch cassettes and 1980s cassette culture and presents us this carefully selected triptych, taking the listener on quite a trip. 3/3 starts with a guttural exhalation, a celestial moan, setting the tone of the rest of the album - from there on the hot stickiness of dub oozes into the listener's ears, followed by ancestral percussion, rolling guitar riffs, and the nomadic sounds of the melodica. DeadlineParanoia 3/3 is light-hearted and suffocating all at once; the meditative rhythms cradle you back and forth while an array of peculiar sounds passes by, alluding to the band's delusional name. The record comes with an inlay presenting the original artwork that Deadline Paranoia used for their cassettes, capturing a dichotomy that is recognizable in their music; a sensitivity towards the spiritual placed alongside anarchic violence. You will be taken on a surreal journey, timeless sounding beats are accompanied by wailing instruments, the atmosphere is thick and heavy with smoke.
