When crossroads become nebulous, what can serve as a point of reference?

Following suit to ‘Volume I’ released in 2021, Secret Witness returns with ‘Have You Ever’, the first single from the next full length offering on Bienvenue Recordings. To reconvene the right way, the Montreal ensemble offers two iterations of the song. Both aimed at connecting with the varied taste of House music enthusiasts and worked to leave a lasting impression.

Originally written in the summer of 2022, the ‘Main Mix’ weaves Laroie’s resounding vocals into a poignant tapestry of mid-tempo beat. The songstress flows with Pascal Deaudelin’s rhythmic finesse, oscillating between breakbeat and a solid groove. Yet another Gabriel Rei & Gene Tellem production that underscores the group’s partiality to the balearic experience.

To best complement the original version, we dive deeper to the hypnotic, dance floor savvy ‘Club Mix’. Turning up the tempo, placing the core elements in a fresh atmosphere, in hopes of sparking a moment of movement and reflection.

Cloud Holding is NYC-based Bryce Hackford's fifth album, and first for Futura Resistenza. Seven sound sculptures are coaxed out of recorded improvisations by a group of musicians--Ka Baird, Shelley Burgon, Alice Cohen, Michael Hurder, Dominika Mazurova, Camilla Padgitt-Coles--and worked into formless figures that express an always drifting present. Guided by the Suzuki Nobara--a kind of electric koto with many traditional instrument sounds and unique pitch adjustment controls--and the lyric-less utterances of the human voice, Cloud Holding traces delicate outlines in a collaborative sound world that shines with mysterious, searching affinity.
Gary Martin is well known for his unique productions and his label Teknotika is surely a classic coming out of the famous motor city. This special 10″ holds two sought after tracks that were found on a lost DAT tape by Yossi Amoyal and Gary Martin himself. On the A side we have a long time secret weapon, it’s a hypnotic groove that was heard on many classic sets, Zip and Ben Klock to name a few. An extremely insane, hard to find Gigi Galaxy track that was changing hands for silly prices is on the B side, for those who know… massive release!
‘Cinema’ is a brilliant snapshot of both artists working together in unison, with Fabrice providing his trademark ‘high tech funk & soul’ sound alongside Wolfgang’s keen, tried and tested ability to fuse clever pop inspirations and catchy vocals through the use of robotic mechanics. Perfect music which balances the headphones and dancefloors on the horizon. Five versions are on hand with the EP, including the original version of ‘Cinema,’ a French version of the original, as well as a remixes from Detroit’s Ectomorph, UK Electro kingpin Carl Finlow, and Dutch synthesis maestro Versalife aka Conforce. The original version of ‘Cinema’ is a gorgeous slice of sonic wizardry designed for exploring the borders between underground electronic club music and pop sensibilities. Catchy vocals play alongside a multitude of synth textures, coexisting perfectly in a melodic mélange equally as pleasing to the ears as the dancing feet.
