RNT savors the last bit of summer with a deep-n-sexy offering from Nebraska on the 'Usin' Me" single, out now on the Razor-N-Tape Reserve imprint. Londoner Ali Gibbs tweaks a soulful sample with signature finesse; part disco, part house…all vibes!Aided and abetted by an electro-funk 808-heavy remix from Lovebirds, a dark and stormy take by The Revenge, and a standout slow-burning mix from DJ Nature, we can say for certain you'll be "Usin'" this record, indeed.
SONIC002, consists of four tracks that confirm and continue the concept of the label. In the first three tracks the search for "club" sounds focuses on innovative and futuristic sounds. The fourth track, "Timeless", changes the rules with an experimental 100 bpm imprint; it represents a timeless journey where sounds seem to create "parallel dimensions". Vinyl Only.
Cora Emens is a sex educator and performer based in the Netherlands. This re-issued work of experimental music was compiled in the 80s by Cora's ex-partner, Willem de Ridder (one of the founders of Fluxus) in the Netherlands from the home studio recordings of Cora. Now available in double LP form (originally released on a Radio Art Foundation cassette) with an additional bonus track 'Earplay'. This is the first time it's been re-released in any format. The original tape was mixed by Willem de Ridder and is remastered by Cora Emens herself. The archive cassette now resides in the sound archives of the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam.
Partnering with French label Heavenly Sweetness, Razor-N-Tape delivers the first in a series of EPs by the Brooklyn band Underground System. Showcasing the group’s dynamic global sound, the three original songs of the ‘Into The Fire EP’ range from the Afrobeat-meets-indie-disco vibe of the title track, to the raucous and instant earworm bounce of He Said, She Said, and the smolderingly sultry Desnuda. On the B side the original material gets some heavy DJ-friendly reimagining by Detroit legend Andrés, and French don Yuksek, making this 12” both a proud musical manifesto of the new artist-centered direction of RNT, as well as a knowing nod to the label’s devoted fans on the dancefloor.
Man Made Hill/ Olaf split 7" by Man Made Hill/OlafPlanet Ontario traveller, Man Made Hill, meets Jeremy Greenspan at the controls for this sonic snack which weds signature sounds from the king of sleaze with a new sheen to his slick. Atomized melodies swirl atop boomy bass drops as the crusty crooner bellows & whispers his unique utterances of unbridled love & lust. A woozy stepper that must be heard to be comprehended.Mysterious newcomer, Olaf, is coming in hot & heady with this emotionally dense banger that forgoes clarity for an unhinged catharsis. Swimming through synthy miasma, Olaf’s impassioned vocals dive deep into raw feelings before coming up for air. A chugging, sluggish house beat pulls us along as this fresh-faced contender flexes what she’s got & leaves us wondering & wanting.
