Return to Space Ghost’s celebrated Dance Planet LP with six summer-ready remixes by Central, Dirk 81,
Jarren, Nelson of the East and Space Ghost himself, releasing June 10.

The Oakland-native’s romantic and empowering house sound has enjoyed a growing audience made
up of fans and tastemakers alike. The remix package comes courtesy of friends and label affiliates, each
lending their touch to Space Ghost’s work.

Capitalizing on the inherent warmth in the Bay Area- artist’s sound, Tartelet label head Dirk 81 subtly threads a slow, rolling breakbeat into ‘Deep’, channeling 90s RnB and Balearic. Danish underground powerhouse and Help/Regelbau label affiliate Central injects some up-tempo garage house energy into ‘Be Yourself’ – without losing the swirling romanticism of the original. And LA-based producer Jarren, neighbor to Space Ghost on UK label Apron, leans in to the punchy Lately Bass and turns up the swing on his own version of the track.

Space Ghost comes back to ‘Emotional Healer’ and creates a pointedly club-tooled ‘Dance Mix’ version
with a panoply of 90s touchstones delivered in the classiest of ways. To finish, Nelson Of The East’s ‘Forever Dub’ of the track adds a sharp and snappy strain of modern steppas.

Transociety Relics by László HortobágyiThis release includes a pdf booklet with credits, photos and lots of commentary by László Hortobágyi.László Hortobágyi is an electron released in the current world sound system galaxy. His sound art is simultaneously an expanded ethnography of an invented folklore and a way to preserve his acoustic environments for future generations. They are compositions of both terrestrial and spatial sound that present a rich auditory ecology and trace the path from the past to the future. Ancient and futuristic environments interconnected by invisible historical complexities and inhabited by guardians of tradition.Hortobágyi's music, conceptually fascinating, reveals a unique and transitory world of sound carried out in a singular work form that opens as a portal to another musical dimension.“Transociety Relics”, his latest opus, compiles previously unreleased archive material spanning the period 1974 / 2019. Each side of this two-LP set reproduces a specific impulse in László Hortobágyi's long and influential career.

Despite productions appearing here and there since 2015, Yuzo Iwata has kept a relatively low output. Contributing tracks to compilations and releasing singles under aliases Fabio Lazaro and Almost East, Iwata is also affiliated with Junki Inoue's recent SAISEI label, editing pioneering early Japanese techno from the likes of Suzukiski and COLOGNe for rerelease. After 'Acid House' appeared on the Butter Sessions Come Together 12" in 2020, the label now play host to Yuzo Iwata's first ever full length. The 10 tracks span a wide variety of tempos and show a consistent approach to unusual sound design first evidenced in Iwata's RA Mix of the Day for Clubberia (100% originals recorded circa 2017).Kaizu unfolds with dense environmental ambient textures before 'Neverland' takes us into broken dancehall rhythms and acid-tinged dub. 'Funclub' is reminiscent of Japanese video game soundtracks and 80s fusion whilst further into Side A the balearic energy continues to captivate, closing with the beautiful 'Heroes Show Up Late'. This short piece is built around a looping vocal sample and shuffling drum work that all come together perfectly. There's even a trace of Brazilian MPB influence at play with the vocal/synth interplay. It's Iwata's knack for percussion that is most evident across the album however, with Side B opening cut 'Gamelion' taking an Indonesian inspired approach to modern techno. It runs in a similar vein to Komodo Kolektif's work and might be the dancefloor highlight of the whole LP. 'Sundance' follows with more Japanese motifs, recalling Haruomi Hosono's F.O.E project. Another strong rhythmic workout suited to the floor. The environmental ambient textures return with the closing piece 'Time 2 L', strings, bird calls and droning synthesiser winding down the proceedings.
Cloud Holding is NYC-based Bryce Hackford's fifth album, and first for Futura Resistenza. Seven sound sculptures are coaxed out of recorded improvisations by a group of musicians--Ka Baird, Shelley Burgon, Alice Cohen, Michael Hurder, Dominika Mazurova, Camilla Padgitt-Coles--and worked into formless figures that express an always drifting present. Guided by the Suzuki Nobara--a kind of electric koto with many traditional instrument sounds and unique pitch adjustment controls--and the lyric-less utterances of the human voice, Cloud Holding traces delicate outlines in a collaborative sound world that shines with mysterious, searching affinity.
With their ears towards Detroit and their feet stuck in the Dutch polders Cosmic Force and Edo8 came up with some of the most uncompromising, hardhitting westcoast electro tracks of the early 00's.
