Perspiration Nation by Sweater and Post Play on Pearled Records.

For the second release on the buzzing Pearled Records imprint, fast-rising producer Sweater steps up to deliver 4 quality slices of sophisticated dancefloor material.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Sweater has been developing a reputation for tight and gripping tracks that deliver big energy with an emotive touch. Known for brilliantly blending house and breakbeat with his own unique style, heʼs built a focused catalog of releases that are always reliable. However, his latest offering on Pearled Records builds on that foundation with clear and thoughtful intention, showcasing arguably his most refined tracks to date.

Leading off PRL002 is ‘My Loveʼ a powerfully seductive breakbeat bomb with a delicate piano riff layered over a chugging bass line and that familiar rhythm. Next up is ‘King Ghidorahʼ, aptly named after Godzilla's arch-enemy, the trackʼs signature growl and skipping percussion make this a dark and bumping dancefloor anthem. On the flip side comes ‘Spaced N Pacedʼ that takes us deeper into the night or early morning, leaning on smooth atmospherics, a subtle bass line and of course pacey drums to keep the energy right on time. Rounding out the release is ‘Nice to Meet Youʼ, featuring Sweaterʼs signature breakbeat style and emotional melodies, because he canʼt help but tug at those heart strings.

High-flying global house and techno torch-bearer Jimi Jules returns with a new EP Free Bird on Life and Death Records. The four tracks on Free Bird were written during the same sessions as Jimi’s album ‘+’ on Innervisions in 2022, and collected together they’re a summary of what Jimi’s all about - hands-in-the-air anthems, chaotic house bangers, deep burners and contemplative moments all rolled into one release.
Black So Man. For Black Is Also Man. Tout Le Monde Et Personne. He blames ‘Everybody and No one’.Clealry, Bingotoma Traore was not trying to get rich, or entertain: he wanted to change the world. And all it took to get there was four cassettes, all recorded between 1994 et 1998. In that time he went from extreme poverty, sellings eggs in the streets and killing pigs at the factory, to being the biggest pop star in his native country, Burkina Faso, and a legend all over Western Africa.Corruption, ill governance, education, colonisation… All his songs were history and philosophical lessons for the ghetto youths, the unemployed, and the many people who could identify themselves with him.He died 20 years ago, mortally wounded after going through a car crash. Today, his videos still ranks millions of views on social network. No one has forgotten him. And his fight is more relevant than ever.Rest In Power Black So Man (1967-2002). Thank you to his son Ange Fela Traore and his ex-wife Adji Sanon (to whom he dedicated the song ‘Adji’ included here) for their trust in us leading this reissue project. Half of the profits from the record goes to them.
