Exarde’s just keep it spinnin’. This time our protagonist was originally born in Transylvania, so he knows something about the dancing vampires you often see at parties. This is confirmed by the fact that his release also contributed a lot to the gothic side of the dancefloor. MAR.C is obsessed with dark sounds but specifically loves a guitar, acid and weirdly uplifting electro sounds. So, by his words this EP is exactly concentrated on frequencies between these two spectrums. On the remix duty’s we got P.O with his interpretation which gives an even more unique vibe as a groover for the closing scene.
After a short hiatus, Distorted Sensory Perception returns… this time in the form of a 5 track various artists release featuring music from Vertical Dimension, Encrypted Theory, Fly Insect, ANITTA & Lerosa. The record opens with atmospheric acid electro track titled ‘In Between’ from Malta’s Vertical Dimension (who is also ½ of Moodex). A fine example of melancholic machine-made music with a raw, emotional edge. Includes infectious drums, moody atmospheric keys and formidable basslines.A-side closer comes from anonymous duo, ‘Encrypted Theory’. A diced-up break-beat laden journey full of delay drenched synth parts & a bumping dubbed out bassline. A unique balance of ambient synthesis, rippling arps and frantic sliced up beats that together provide a unique sound with a mood of its own.B-side opens with a dark and doomy electro track dripping with Dopplereffekt vibes. ‘Greyskull’s Revenge’ from UK artist and Manchester native, Fly Insect. Titled in honour of a hardy neighbourhood cat and his pursuit for vengeance. A worthy sonic statement full of sinister synthesis.B2 comes from Ukrainian artist, ANITTA. Her efforts in the studio created ‘Recondite Building’. A sweet, sorrowful take on ambient/braindance/electronica. Offering warm pads, franticly morphing acid squelch-lines that dip, dive & slide over dusty broken beats. The record closes with a slow-mo dystopian electro number from Dublin’s Lerosa entitled ‘Discoloured’. Minimal chugging EBM-esque percussion drenched in dark Kraftwerkian style arps, heartfelt leads and a menacing bassline that carries the track and wraps up DSP’s 3rd VA and 6th 12” ever so nicely.
Ricardo Villalobos first album „Alcachofa“ from 2003.Originally released by Playhouse as a 3x12“ record set, the re-release adds a fourth 12“, the „Alcachofa Tools“.
Berliner Robert Dietz lands on the Rotterdam label Nous'klaer Audio with the summery five-tracker RIP To My Idea Of You. A record infused with beautiful melodies and bright energy boosting drums - for the club, home and everything in between. The vinyl comes with a special poster designed by Hendrik Schneider.
Vincent Lemieux and Guillaume Coutu Dumont, longtime Montreal fellows, launch their Copier/Coller imprint with Sol 668 from their own project Flabbergast.
Causal Chain founder laced is a DJ and producer from Montreal, Quebec, drawing influence from UK bass, IDM, techno and breakbeat. In 2018, she released her first EP “Define This Mood” under her moniker Lacedetail on Toronto label Summer Isle. She is part of Saudade, a musical project inspired by industrial dub, ambient and jazz with harpist Marilou Lyonnais Archambault. For the past 4 years, they have been hosting a monthly show on Montreal web radio n10.as. In 2020, she co-founded the label audio bambino with her partner and close friends while discovering an infinite realm of club sounds all over the Internet.oko is laced’s sophomore EP under her new moniker, which takes a new path compared to her previous noise explorations. Drawing inspiration from ambient music, dreampop, video game and anime soundtracks, breakbeat and IDM, the music conveys a dream world where the artist tends to escape in. The EP was produced over the course of 2021 since laced’s 2020 MUTEK performance in Montreal, taking a melodic approach in contrast to her more percussive productions. oko is best consumed under a pile of warm blankets or under the rain, its energy being one of catharsis, contemplation, healing and dreaming.
