Broken Global System various artists on Distorted Sensory Perception.

After a short hiatus, Distorted Sensory Perception returns… this time in the form of a 5 track various artists release featuring music from Vertical Dimension, Encrypted Theory, Fly Insect, ANITTA & Lerosa.
The record opens with atmospheric acid electro track titled ‘In Between’ from Malta’s Vertical Dimension (who is also ½ of Moodex). A fine example of melancholic machine-made music with a raw, emotional edge. Includes infectious drums, moody atmospheric keys and formidable basslines.

A-side closer comes from anonymous duo, ‘Encrypted Theory’. A diced-up break-beat laden journey full of delay drenched synth parts & a bumping dubbed out bassline. A unique balance of ambient synthesis, rippling arps and frantic sliced up beats that together provide a unique sound with a mood of its own.

B-side opens with a dark and doomy electro track dripping with Dopplereffekt vibes. ‘Greyskull’s Revenge’ from UK artist and Manchester native, Fly Insect. Titled in honour of a hardy neighbourhood cat and his pursuit for vengeance. A worthy sonic statement full of sinister synthesis.

B2 comes from Ukrainian artist, ANITTA. Her efforts in the studio created ‘Recondite Building’. A sweet, sorrowful take on ambient/braindance/electronica. Offering warm pads, franticly morphing acid squelch-lines that dip, dive & slide over dusty broken beats.

The record closes with a slow-mo dystopian electro number from Dublin’s Lerosa entitled ‘Discoloured’. Minimal chugging EBM-esque percussion drenched in dark Kraftwerkian style arps, heartfelt leads and a menacing bassline that carries the track and wraps up DSP’s 3rd VA and 6th 12” ever so nicely.

More than four years after his previous EP and after having released some remixes and collaborations with Agar Agar, Black Devil Disco Club or the Italian design studio Burro Studio, LeonxLeon comes back with a new EP, passing to the electronic shaker the styles of music listened since the last release.4 tracks all as different as each other with first Itanewa, where the Parisian producer tries for the first time to give voice, without vocoder, well aware that on a track inspired by South African productions of the 80s, an instrumental version only would not be enough to do justice. It is thus in a kind of invented Esperanto that the lyrics, a call to lightness and simplicity according to the artist, are distilled between synthetic bass, keyboards and other percussions.
Get inside the gambling den.Das Wettbüro is the new music on candomblé that will make you want to never stop playing. Toggling between love infested disco and droner Krautrock, leaning into Kosmische and Late 80s House - it is a pleasure to be surprised as their vision unfolds. These men don’t play for free. And they always win. Now bet your Money on this record.

GEORGIA's new kaleidoscopic hyper-music-entity "State Effect (Accel)" expands the NYC's duo project in a high-dimensional phase space—and does so within their all-kind-of-music frame.State Effect (Accel) is happening this very moment, it is a positive cry for change—a brilliant plan. This record is "viscous" — whatever I do, wherever I am, it sort of "sticks" to me.It is "nonlocal" — its 'accelerated' effects are globally distributed through a huge tract of time. It forces me to experience time in an unusual way.It is "phased" — I only experience pieces of it at any one time.It is "inter-objective" — it consists of all kinds of other/multiple entities but it is not reducible to the sum of its parts. This music reveals the present and its psychic dimension, no titles could have been more relevant.Justin Tripp and Brian Close's new kaleidoscopic hyper-music-entity expands their GEORGIA project in a high-dimensional phase space. A great work of cognitive music mapping that plots all the states of a system — Lovely bubbly HTML.The eight tracker long playing make extensive use of the vocal participation of Paris/Berlin-based artist/DJ MARYLOU aka OISEAU DANSEUR and Gabi Asfour of visionary NY fashion collective threeASFOUR.
The late, great Susumu Yokota made many terrific records, though few are quite as revered as 2004 set Symbol, which up until last year had only ever been available on CD. It got a limited vinyl pressing in Japan in late 2021 and is now available worldwide thanks to this vinyl pressing from Lo Recordings. The album itself is simply stunning: a perfectly pitched fusion of neo-classical orchestration, melancholic piano motifs, ambient textures, sampled vocal refrains and beats that variously touch on instrumental hip-hop, IDM and soft-focus Latin grooves. Atmospheric, evocative, melodic and impeccably produced, it remains Yokota's most musically expansive and cinematic release. It's the sort of set that everyone needs in their life, whether or not they're a confirmed admirer of the Japanese artist's other work.
Reconnected is compiled from Harold Lucious’ addictive 1990 release Connections, a visionary mix of soulful house, New Jack Swing and RnB, an American predecessor of street soul. Deeply connected to music from an early age, Harold started his music career in the early 70s at the age of 16. He sang in his first group, The Final Seconds, who pressed a 7” single in New York City in 1973. The group would go on to record a full album called Neo Cosmic Blues, but never had the chance to press it. They would continue to perform and write together throughout the 70’s and searched in vain for a label to work with. During that time, Harold landed a guest spot on the legendary Brother Ahh record Move Ever Onward, set up by his manager who was Brother Ahh’s sibling. Harold is listed as having played koto, but really he provided background vocals. Throughout the 80’s, Harold worked at WBI radio programming talk shows. On air, he would act out modified scripts to Richard Wright novels like “The Outsider”.Connections was his effort to finally release a record after years of recording and playing music. Experimenting with dance music he came up with an album that was inspired by his love of house music and RnB. He sold the record out of his backpack, ending up with boxes of copies that were eventually destroyed when he had to move from his long-time apartment in Brooklyn. Few of the original LP remain, and it has become almost impossible to find.Reconnected is a remastered redux with four songs taken from the original LP, and pressed onto a loud 45rpm 12” for maximum dance-floor potential. Mixed Signals is honoured to introduce Harold’s music to a contemporary audience around the world.
